EOTC WEEK!

TREEADVENTURES!!!!
During an action packed week of fun called EOTC week, which by the way stands for: education outside the classroom.
One of our activities was tree adventures which was my favourite if you'r rating the activities on a scale of funess.
Tree adventures took skill to be able to master all the courses which thankfully most of year 5 did. My favourite course from tree adventures was course 4 because of the tarzan swing which most of all I loved.
ORIENTEIRING
Another one of our activities that we got to experience was when we went orientiering at waiatarua reserve. Orientiering was definatly the most tiring activity over all because we were running around all day trying to find these tag poles which were hidding in the bushes, trees and swamps just to mension a few of them! I enjoyed this activity alot because I loved searching all around a HUGE reserve/park trying to find hidden tag poles! I also enjoyed scaning the map to find the right direction just to mension that I felt a bit like pirate trying to retrieve hidden treasure in the sand! But most of all I liked that my mum came on the trip to waiatarua reserve!
WAVE POOLS
Another trip that chomped into our week'o'fun was when we took EOTC to the next level.WAVE POOLS!!!!! Just to top off my favourites list this one comes in 2nd place! The wave pools were jam packed with year 5 students from Meadowbank Primary School! I wonder how the little todlers felt when some of the year 5's took on the baby slides! Todler + year 5 = :(:(
My favourite part of the wave pools was when I raced my friends down the hydro slide!
When the wave pools went on the wave pool turned into a huge blob of people!
DANCE
During Monday the 16th of May Rm26 had a dance class in the school hall. The music we used for the dance was by James Brown. We were put into pairs and we needed to create a routine inculding 3 symetrical shapes and 3 twisted shapes. Then we had to present our routine to the rest of the class.
I really enjoyed taking part in creating a dance to preform to the class with my partner.
maths!!!
During maths this week in room 8 we have been learning about degrees and angles. I think i'm kind of getting the hang of it.
Another topic in maths we have been learning about is something called to the power of and the square route of numbers. Here are a few examples: 7 to the power of 2 is 49 and the square route of 100 is 10.
A Moment In Time
The awesomest moment in time during my holiday was when I rode the HUKA FALLS jet in
Taupo. The jet was very fast and the ride was 25minutes long but we we're lucky because we had a funny
and cool driver so we had 35minutes on the boat doing lots of 360degree spins and SUPER sharp turns
around drift wood sticking out of the water, rocks,walls,cliffs,trees,ducks,bulls and small sand islands!
we were going so fast that when we did turns on the side of the jet all the water spray came splashing all
over me!{I got drenched!}The water felt like needles flying at my face!+ just to top it off it was FREEZING!
On the jet we also went right up to the actual HUKA FALLS! We got up so close to them that we were in
the spot where the boat sinks if you stay to long! Now that was awesome. Did you know that the

water coming out of the HUKA FALLS can fill one olympic swiming pool every 5-6 seconds and two every
10-11 seconds! That is just down right COOL! The jet was an amazing adventure it was...... A moment in
time!
Sci Tech
For Sci Tech we were put into groups and given a question about anti bacterial products. My groups question was: What are some naturally found substances that can kill bacteria and how do they do that? We researched our question on the internet and discovered that wool and vinegar can kill bacteria and they are both natural substances. I found that Dettol has also got another product called Dettol natural. Dettol natural is a spray cleaner that is anti bacterial and kills all bad germs. Eco Store is another product that is germ free and it destroys bacteria. Manuka Honey is a great product as it is high in vitimans, anti bacterial and it is just like medicine because it is usually used for medicinal purposes plus it is cheaper than your usual Pamol or Panadol.
